The Man Above is set on a planet which the residents of its Southern hemisphere call Argil. It is generally similar to Earth, the primary difference being that it is slightly further from its sun, and slightly colder. It’s axial tilt is less than Earth’s, and its seasons are less pronounced.
About 70% of Argil is covered by oceans. The majority of its land is a single Continent positioned far to the South. The South Pole is on the Continent, and much of the Continent is covered by ice at least part of the year. But its northernmost parts are sub-tropical.
A year on Argil lasts 399 days, which are divided into 13 months. The Summer Solstice is the first day of the new year. The first 4 months are each 30 days. The remaining 9 are 31 days. Every third year is a leap year. On these years, an extra day is added between the last day of the old year and the first day of the new. This day is numbered zero on the calendar, and does not belong to any month.
